Town Centre Management

Town Centre Management is a partnership between Darlington Borough Council and the local private and voluntary sectors; jointly working to maintain and develop a vibrant and successful Town Centre. The 2008-2011 Business Plan is available to download at the bottom of this page.

 

 

The main focus of the team is on:

  • Supporting and engaging with existing and new businesses and encouraging them to take an active role in implementing the Town Centre’s key objectives
      
  • Implementing and ongoing marketing campaign through print, broadcast, and e-technology, to promote the town centre as a vibrant and attractive retail, cultural and leisure centre for residents, visitors and investors

 

In addition, the team work with colleagues to:

  • Maintain and improve a welcoming environment, to attract shoppers, visitors and investors to the town centre
      
  • Organise an appealing selection of markets and events to increase footfall and vibrancy in the town centre
     
  • Helping the progress of development schemes to improve the town centre environment
       
  • Ensuring all users have good access to the town centre and its services
      
  • Maintain a safe town centre environment and to reduce crime levels across all areas of town centre activity.

The Town Centre Business Plan for 2008-2011 has been launched setting out a vision for Darlington town centre.

 

The plan, which has been devised by Darlington Town Centre Board with the Town Centre team, includes an action plan detailing initiatives up to 2011, aimed at raising the town’s profile and increasing the number of people who visit.
