Distinct Darlington Ltd are the Business Improvement District (BID) company for Darlington Town Centre. Businesses in Darlington have voted to improve the town centre and develop their business environment through the projects outlined in the BID business plan. As a result of the success of these projects, Distinct Darlington aim to increase footfall in the town, while also making it cleaner and safer and more welcoming for all.
A BID is a business controlled initiative which gives local businesses the power to raise funds locally, to be spent locally with the aim of increasing footfall in the area, leading to an increase in business performance and an improvement in the overall look and feel of the town centre. Projects undertaken by BIDs are outlined after consultation with businesses to determine what they want from the town centre and ultimately to encourage more visitors and shoppers into the town centre, making Darlington a nicer place to spend time.
