Managing Allegations Against Staff
Managing Allegations Against Staff, Carers and Volunteers:
The procedures have been developed as a response to “Working Together to Safeguard Children 2010” which set out as statutory guidance the responsibility placed on all employers and other organisations who provide services to children to take steps when allegations of abuse or other inappropriate behaviour toward a child are made against someone in that organisation (Chapter 6 Paragraph 6.32 onwards and Appendix 5). A copy of Working Together can be downloaded from the Department of Education website.
The aims of the procedures are to:
- Prevent unsuitable people from working with children and young people.
- Promote safe practice and challenge poor and unsafe practice.
- Identify instances in which there are grounds for concern about a child’s welfare and to take appropriate action to keep them safe.
- Contribute effective partnership working between all those involved with providing services for children.
These procedures should be used for anyone employed within Darlington, if it comes to our attention that a person is employed outside Darlington the area’s LADO to be notified.
