Services to residential care homes
Darlington Libraries and Community Learning Service is able to support care homes in work with residents by providing a library service. Books in large print and ordinary print can be provided, as well as books on audiotape, for anyone with sight problems.
VIP reading group
Do you like reading/listening? Do you like talking about books? Then come along and join in with our reading group aimed at people with sight problems.
The aim of this group is to promote a better choice by sharing reading experiences and in turn trying something different.
As a group we have enjoyed visits to 'Magna', producers of books in Large-print and 'Soundings' who produce spoken word tapes. We have also enjoyed visits to the local theatre.
Home reader service
Darlington Libraries and Community Learning Service run this service in partnership with the Women’s Royal Voluntary service.
Anyone who is physically unable to visit the library and does not have anyone who can call on their behalf can apply for this service.
