Darlington's Child Poverty

Child poverty remains a persistent problem in many parts of the country including Darlington. Child poverty, its causes and consequences, corrodes life chances and is at the heart of social injustice and inequality.

The Child Poverty Act 2010 requires Darlington, along with all local authorities, to prepare and publish an assessment of the needs of children living in poverty in its area.

Darlington has prepared a Child Poverty Needs Assessment and a Child Poverty Strategy which will be considered by Cabinet on November 1st, 2011.
