Community Partnership Steering Group

The Community Partnership Steering Group has been up and running since April 2004. The Steering Group has a Strategic role by bringing together all of the Community Partnerships. The aims are set out below:

  • Learn and share experience with each other
  • Work together on projects and funding bids that cut across Community Partnership areas
  • Monitor the Neighbourhood Renewal actions to ensure effective progress is made
  • Monitor Darlington Borough Council's Community Partnerships Service Plan
  • Link the Community Partnership representatives on the Darlington Partnership Board with all 11 Community Partnerships, allowing for two way communication

The membership of the Steering Group consists of a representative from each of the eleven Community Partnerships.  Community Partnership representatives who sit on the Darlington Partnership Board and the four thematic groups are also invited to meetings, to allow for two-way communication.  The members of the Steering Group will invite officers from organisations to attend as and when their expertise is required, also when they want to call into account officers and organisations on the progress of the Neighbourhood Renewal Strategy actions.

Work is currently being undertaken with each of the Community Partnerships to identify actions that the Steering Group can take forward.

The steering group also decided to put a Running Costs bids for all 11 Community Partnerships into  the Reaching Communities Programme at the Big Lottery. The Online proposal is due to be submitted in May 2008.

The group discusses the Council's Community Partnerships Section Service Plan - pdf document.

The group works within a Terms of Reference - pdf document .  They  monitor the progress made towards the Neighbourhood Renewal Strategy targets and reviewed the Community partnerships Division Service Plan for 2007/2008

The steering group are currently developing an Adult Literacy & Numeracy Project within the Bank Top, Eastbourne, Haughton East & Cockerton West wards.  £3600 has been secured (£2000 from Cummins and £1600 from Darlington Borough Council Libraries).

We have secured £4900 from Awards for All in April 2008.  We expect the project to start within the next couple of months.
