
The strategy outlines the vision for older people in the Borough – to promote well being amongst older people by ensuring they have lifestyle choices and control over their own lives.
A launch event will be held at the Dolphin Centre in Darlington on Tuesday April 22 from 3pm to 6pm when you can:
- Find out about the concessionary fares scheme
- Learn more about the Darlington Dividend – the reward scheme for council tenants and leaseholders
- Check to see if you’re claiming everything you’re entitled to with the Council’s Welfare Benefits Team
- Arrange a home fire safety check
- Find out more about Gold (Growing Older Living in Darlington) events and activities
- Try the GEM (Getting Everyone Motivated) fitness programme
- View the Gold members taking part in their now infamous trolley dance.
There will also be a Talk Time session at 3.30pm when you can speak to Councillors, senior council officers, the Police and representatives from the Primary Care Trust about issues affecting you. Refreshments will be available.
