The aim of Cultural Services in Darlington is to develop services that enhance the quality of life, improve health and well-being and promote active engagement in the arts.


Whether you are a local resident or visitor to the area, we aim to provide a wide range of cultural activities for you to enjoy. 

  • Visit the Arts Centre if you’re looking for information about cultural events happening in the area, if you want to find out more about our arts development work or if you just want to relax and meet friends.

  • If you are into sport and leisure activities, want the children to be entertained in our soft play area, looking for a venue to host a conference or wedding or simply fancy a bite to eat and drink, we have something to offer everyone at the Dolphin Centre.

  • Darlington’s Civic Theatre has a fabulous, versatile programme, featuring musicals, comedy, opera, quality drama and young people’s theatre.  With over 170,000 patrons attending more than 70 productions each year, make sure you don’t miss out – book now by using our online facility.  If you are a Friend of Darlington Civic Theatre and would like to take advantage of the friends discounts and advanced booking, you will need to contact the Box Office direct using the booking line 01325 486555 Mon - Sat 9am - 8pm.  At the present we are unable to display the friends discounts online.

  • Darlington’s premier outdoor sporting facility, Eastbourne Sports Complex, offers a wide variety of outdoor sports and physical activities and is home to some of Darlington's most successful clubs.

  • Dedicated to sport and physical activity in Darlington, our Sports Development enables opportunities for all the community to participate in activities allowing each individual to achieve their full potential through coach education and development.

  • Stressholme Golf Centre is a superb 18-hole golf course extending over 145 acres and with its picturesque setting and wonderful panoramic views of the surrounding area, this makes it an extremely pleasant course to play.

  • Head of Steam is the new name for the Railway Museum, which has undergone a £1.7m refurbishment. Whether you would like to use our research facilities, check out our exhibits or attend one of our exciting events, we guarantee a fun day out for all the family.
