What's it all about?
ArtsSpark Youth Dance provides a safe, welcoming environment for young people aged 8 to 18 to develop their dance skills and techniques leading to regular performance opportunities. ArtsSpark Youth Dance is based in the Studio, a brand new professional performance and workshop space for children and young people at Darlington Arts Centre. A number of Youth Dance sessions are available each term exploring a range of styles, led by professional Youth Dance Leaders.
Hip Hop and Street Dance - GIRLZ Style
Monday: 7.15 - 8.45pm - Ages 10-18
£3.50 per session/£35 per term*
Ever wanted to dance like they do in music videos? Learn new and funky moves to the latest beats in this hip hop/street dance class. Tim Smith will teach you all the basics you need to create your own unique style. Keep fit and have fun at this friendly class open to all abilities.
Breakdance - BOYZ Style
Tuesday: 7.00 - 8.30pm - Ages 10-18
£3.50 per session/£35 per term*
Learn all the acrobatic moves of this athletic dance with Tim Smith. This class is good for building technique and strength and also learning 'FRESH' moves. Open to all abilities.
Contemporary Dance
Monday: 4.30 - 5.30pm - Ages 8-11
£2.50 per session/£25 per term*
Monday: 5.30 - 7.00pm - Ages 11-16
£3.50 per session/£35 per term*
This fun, energetic class with Debbie Waistell will teach you basic dance skills and techniques you need to get creative, and have a go at choreographing your own work. Make new friends, work towards performances and try new styles such as jazz and ballet. All abilities welcome.

Please note: A parent/guardian must fill in and sign an ArtsSpark Youth Dance registration form for all young people under 16 before they can attend sessions. Registration forms will be available at the beginning of sessions.
*Concessions
Concessionary rates are available for Young People eligible for the LiveDarlington Card (pdf), providing a 25% discount. This includes all full-time students over the age of 16. To find out more, pick up an application form from the Dolphin Centre or other Council-run venues.
ArtsSpark Membership Scheme - FREE Membership
All ArtsSpark Youth Dance participants will receive FREE membership of the ArtsSpark Membership Scheme, providing access to discounted theatre tickets and special events for young people.
