In this relaxed and friendly class you’ll be given the opportunity to work alongside a skilled textile artist and create decorative material pictures or perhaps something functional such as a bag, a hat or even slippers.
Guided by the skills and experience of textile artist and course tutor Becky Sunter, you will learn how to use woolen fibres to create textured pieces of flat or three dimensional felt. Becky, who studied craft design at Cumbria College of Art and Design, has knowledge of traditional techniques alongside a keen interest in contemporary textiles. Therefore this class gives you the chance to learn an ancient craft and transfer it to a contemporary art-form. You may combine your felting with other craft interests such as embroidery, knitting, weaving or use it like ‘paint’ to make pictorial artwork.
With no previous experience necessary, this course gives you the chance to work at your own pace and meet likeminded people in a relaxed and creative atmosphere.
