Community Sports Networks (CSN’s) are seen as an integral part of the delivery system for sport, providing a locally co-ordinated partnership for increasing participation in sport and physical activity. The strength of CSN’s is to potentially attract key players from the community to identify local needs and then implement measures to ensure change occurs. The key players will include partners from across sport, health, education, community safety, regeneration and the local voluntary, community and private sectors.
Sport England has been working closely with Tees Valley Sport and Darlington Sports Development Team, to develop the Community Sports Network and good progress has been made in recent months. Darlington Community Sports Network was established in the summer of 2006, and submitted an application for a full-time Officer to co-ordinate the partnership in August 2006.
A Sport & Physical Activity Development Officer for the CSN was appointed in January 2007 and commenced work in February 2007 implementing many of the objectives from the group.
