Coaches Forum

The Darlington Sports Development Coaches Forum was introduced in May 2007 and has become a very successful and rewarding, bi-annual, event for both the Sports Development Team and the coaches.  The main focus of this event is to offer all of our coaches support in the their coaching, improving their knowledge and experience.  The evenings are also a good opportunity to advise coaches of future coaching course that will help towards their development.

February 2008

The third Sports Development coaches forum took place at Harrowgate Hill Primary School on Wednesday 6th February 2008.  The theme of the evening was High Quality coaching and we were joined by Sports Coach UK coach consultants Matt Williams and Andy Grant.  Matt and Andy delivered an excellent workshop to over 20 coaches from different coaching backgrounds and the feedback received from coaches was very positive.

On the night Paul Foreman, Sport and Physical Activity Development Officer, advised coaches of future development opportunities that were coming up in Darlington and across the Tees Valley and encouraged all coaches to apply to become a casual sports coach for Darlington Borough Council.

May 2007

The very first Darlington Sports Development Coaches Forum was held at the Education Village, Darlington in May 2007.  At this event the Sports Development Team highlighted the importance of safety while coaching and covered the various non-practical aspects of a coach's role.  In depth information regarding keeping accurate registers, being aware of and signing the code of conduct and completing lessons plans prior to sessions were the main components.
