2008 Darlington Community Games
This years Community Games took place at Eastbourne Sports Complex on Tuesday 22 July 2008 and was enjoyed by almost 400 young people. Scottish 100m and 200m sprinter Susan Deacon joined us as sporting champion and talked to all young people about her experiences of sport and physical activity from an early age to elite level.
The young people from 17 schools in Darlington took part in five sports - cricket, tag-rugby, football, athletics and tennis - throughout the day and demonstrated high levels of sporting ability. All young people had received 'free' coaching sessions from the Sports Development Team leading up to the event with over 100 hours delivered across the five sports.
