Longfield Cluster Schools
The Sports Development Team is currently working on the Longfield Cluster School project, which is funded by the Big Lottery Fund (BLF) and is aimed at the young people who attend Longfield School Sports College and the three surrounding (feeder) primary schools; Corporation Road, Harrowgate Hill and North Road.
The project started in November 2006 and will continue to run until September 2008. A consultation was carried out with the children to see what activities they would like to experience and in the last twelve months the young people have already engaged in White-Water Rafting, Skiing, Climbing, Snowboarding, Football, Table Tennis, Cricket, Badminton, Netball, Tag Rugby, Basketball, Archery, Trampolining, Gymnastics, Volleyball and Tennis.
In addition to this, performance camps in Netball, Tag Rugby, Tennis and Gymnastics have taken place during school holidays. The success of the past year has resulted in clubs being set-up and made sustainable in Trampolining and Gymnastics.
A comprehensive programme of activities will continue to run from now until September 2008 and if you require any further information please contact Sports Development on 01325 254370.
