Q:  What Sport & Physical Activity clubs/groups can I access in Darlington?

A:  Visit our Club page which has an A-Z list of all clubs in and around Darlington or call Sports Development on 01325 254370 and we will send you a Club Directory booklet.

 

 

Q:  How can I get involved in Sports Development?

A:  There are a numbers of different ways to get involved.  Volunteering is always a good way to get started, as from here we can support you into coaching and develop your coaching skills.  For more information contact Sports Development on 01325 254370.  You can also find out more information on volunteering and coaching on our web pages.

 

 

Q: What is a School Sport Partnership (SSP)?

A: Visit our Partners page for a brief description of a School Sport Partnership or alternatively you will find more information on the Youth Sport Trust website.

 

 

Q: What is a Community Sports Network (CSN)?

A: The Community Sports Network in Darlington was established in September 2005.  It is run through Sport England and their delivery system for sport with the aim of increasing participation, widening access and form one joined-up approach in Darlington from all delivery agents.  The Darlington CSN has four sub groups and these are Club Development, Children and Young People, Adults and the Elderly and Funding.  For more information visit our Community Sports Network page.

 

 

Q: Will Darlington Sport Development assist our organisation access funding?

A: We are committed to helping all community groups/clubs access external funding.  Any club looking for assistance with a funding application should initially visit our Club page and then contact Sports Development on 01325 254370.  Darlington Borough Council have their own external funding team and for more information you can contact Pearl Berry on 01325 388642.

 

 

Q: Can we add our club/group to the Club Directory?

A: Yes.  Contact Sports Development on 01325 254370 or email SDT@darlington.gov.uk with your club details including name, contact information, training days, times and venue(s) and we will add your club to the directory.

 

 

Q: Are there any activities for young people aged under 5 years in Darlington?

A: The majority of sessions provided by Sports Development are for young people aged 5 years and above.  There are various reasons for this including the services remit, funding criteria and also the recommended age for children to access structured sport as opposed to play is 5 years.  A couple of clubs/groups in Darlington may cater for this age group or alternatively they can access Soft Play at the Dolphin Centre or Children Centres in Darlington.
