Frequently Asked Questions

Q:  What Sport & Physical Activity clubs/groups can I access in Darlington?

A:  Visit our Club page which has an A-Z list of all clubs in and around Darlington or call Sports Development on 01325 254370 and we will send you a Club Directory booklet.

Q:  How can I get involved in Sports Development?

A:  There are a numbers of different ways to get involved.  Volunteering is always a good way to get started, as from here we can support you into coaching and develop your coaching skills.  For more information contact Sports Development on 01325 254370.  You can also find out more information on volunteering and coaching on our web pages.

Q:  Why do a lot of your activities only take place in certain areas of town?

A:  We do our best to evenly distribute sport and physical activity sessions in the town but in certain situations we are limited as to what we can do, where we can do it and who can attend.  A lot of our current activities take place in the Park East, Lascelles and Eastbourne wards and this is because the project they run under, Zone Active, is aimed only at these areas.  Another project running, this time through Extended Schools, means that a lot of activities are currently being delivered in the Northgate ward and young people from Longfield School Sports College, Harrowgate Hill Primary School, Corporation Road Primary School and North Road Primary School are being offered activities on a weekly basis.

Q: What is a School Sport Partnership (SSP)?

A: Visit our Partners page for a brief description of a School Sport Partnership or alternatively you will find more information on the Youth Sport Trust website.

Q: What is a Community Sports Network (CSN)?

A: The Community Sports Network in Darlington was established in September 2005.  It is run through Sport England and their delivery system for sport with the aim of increasing participation, widening access and form one joined-up approach in Darlington from all delivery agents.  The Darlington CSN has four sub groups and these are Club Development, Children and Young People, Adults and the Elderly and Funding.  For more information visit our Community Sports Network page.
