Volunteers

Volunteers play a massive role in all walks of life including sport and physical activity.  Without volunteers activities and events delivered by our Sports Development Team would not happen as their hard work and efforts are so important.

Volunteers Network

In Darlington we have a volunteers network and the idea behind this project is to increase the number of volunteers assisting with the delivery of activities in the community and also to help develop the skills of volunteers and help them access coaching courses.

There are a few simple steps to follow to join our volunteers network;

• Download a volunteer information form (PDF), complete and return to Sports Development

• On receiving the form we will contact you to discuss areas of volunteer work available.

• We will agree on certain sessions and you will work alongside one of our casual sports coaches.

• You will be given a volunteer t-shirt to wear at the sessions.

• A coaching hours log (PDF) can be downloaded to help you log your hours.

• When you feel you have completed a satisfactory amount of hours you should contact Sports Development for a discussion and to submit your coaching hours log.

• If progression from volunteer to coach is agreed between both parties we will support you to access coaching courses and become a casual sports coach with us.

Level 2 Award in Community Sports Leadership

The Level 2 Award in Community Sports Leadership is a nationally recognised qualification that enables successful candidates to independently lead small groups of people in sport and recreational activities.
