As well as fantastic ‘intertracktive’ exhibitions and activities within the museum, we also have a lot more activities and events planned for 2008 for all of the family, that make Head of Steam a great day out!

Darlington Crested China Ware and The 250th Anniversary of the Gentlemen and Lady Archers of Darlington
Tuesday 16th September to Sunday 2nd November 2008
Pop by and see these fascinating exhibitions featuring Darlington! Crested china souvenirs were very popular between the 1890s and the 1930s. The railways made it easier for people to go on holiday and they wanted a souvenir to remind them of their stay. This collection of crested ware features Darlington.
The Gentlemen and Lady Archers of Darlington Celebrate their 250th anniversary this year and have put together a collection about their history. On display will be their Charter on loan from Crown Street Library.
Admission is included in Museum entry price and in annual memberships.
Halloween
Sunday 2nd November
The museum will be decked out in all things spooky, and with special effects to send a chill down your spine! Dare you handle the creepy crawlies? Come and see the bird handler and their owls. Be amazed by the Magician and ask the face painter to make you look extra spooky! There will also be a mini train ride, and arts and crafts with local children's writer and illustrator, Liz Million.
Why not add to the atmosphere by visiting us in costume!
Our Halloween event runs from 11am - 3.30pm, normal admission applies.
