I was elected to Council on 5th May 2003.

I am currently the Council's Cabinet Member with the Portfolio for Children and Young People, and serve on the following Committees:

• Cabinet
• General Licensing Committee/Licensing Act 2003 Committee 
• LA Governors Appointments Committee
• Corporate Parenting Panel
• Human Resources Committee
  

I also represent the Council on a number of outside bodies, namely:

• Standing Advisory Council on Religious Education (SACRE)
• Northern Council of Education Authorities
• Skerne Park Youth and Community Centre - Management Committee
• North East Strategic Migration Partnership [external link] (as named substitute)
• North East Contracting Consortium for Asylum Support (NECCAS)
