About This Councillor
I was elected to the Council on 7th June 1973, although I had a break in service from 1976 - 1979 and was Mayor of Darlington in the Municipal Year 1992/93.
I am currently the Cabinet Member with the Portfolio for Transport - pdf document.
For most of the period between 1979 and 2000, I was Chair of the Development and Planning Committees during which time Darlington saw the restoration of the Skerne Valley, which included the Riverside Way Walks, the opening of the Dolphin Centre and the Cornmill Centre, the rebuilding of the Market Square and the new industrial units at Faverdale and Yarm Road.
