I was elected to the Council on 7th May 1987 and served as the Mayor of Darlington during 2006/07.

I am appointed to the following Committees:

• Children and Young People Scrutiny Committee as Chair
• Adults and Housing Scrutiny Committee
• Monitoring and Co-ordination Group

In addition I have been nominated to represent the Council on the following outside bodies, namely:-

• Cruse Bereavement Care and Resource Centre [external link] 
• Standing Advisory Council on Religous Education (SACRE)
• Northern Council of Education Authorities
