Welcome

Welcome to the Mayoral webpages.  I, Councillor Bryan Thistlethwaite, was elected as Mayor of Darlington at the Annual Council meeting held on Thursday, 20th May, 2010, with my wife Gill, as Mayoress.  I have been a Councillor for the Cockerton East Ward since 1991.

After a great deal of thought, I have decided to support the following two Charties during my Mayoral year:-

  • Diabetes (UK) Darlington Branch; and
  • CLIC Sargent (Caring for Children with Cancer).

I also hope to support the RNLI (Royal National Lifeboat Institution) during my Mayoral Year.

The Mayor's Ball, which will be held on Friday, 15th October, 2010, it is one of the social events of the year, and I have decided that the theme for this year's Ball will be 'Under the Sea'.

Throughout my Mayoral year I look forward to seeing improvements in the Borough and to the opportunities for our residents flowing from our Sustainable Community Strategy 'One Darlington: Perfectly Placed'.
