Members of Parliament (MPs)

The Borough of Darlington is divided into two constituencies, namely Darlington for the Urban area and Sedgefield for the Rural area.  The last Parliamentary Elections were held in May 2005 and Mr. Alan Milburn was elected to represent the Darlington Parliamentary Constituency.  A Parliamentary By-Election was held on 19th July, 2007, at which Mr. Phil Wilson was elected to represent the Sedgefield Parliamentary Constituency.

The MP's are elected for a term of office of up to five years and are elected to serve the community.
