Terms of Reference

To undertake the functions relating to Town and Country Planning and Development Control (as set out in Part A, Schedule 1 of the Local Authorities (Functions and Responsibilities) (England) Regulations 2000 (No. 2853), as amended; other than those delegated to the Director of Development and Environment in accordance with the Officers Scheme of Delegation.

Membership

The Planning Applications Committee consists of 13 Members of the Council and is politically balanced to include seven Labour, four Conservatives, one Liberal Democrat and one Independent Member. Details of the Membership is shown in the table below :-

Further information on public speaking at Planning Committee can be obtained from Planning Services Department.

As from 31st January, 2008 a Planning Applications Sub-Committee was established which will meet at 5.00pm on the same date as Planning Applications Committee. The first meeting will take place in Committee Room No. 2 at the Town Hall. The Sub-Committee is made up of 5 elected Members, namely Councillors Baldwin, Cartwright, Regan, Lee and D.A. Lyonette, all of whom are Members of Planning Applications Committee.

The Sub-Committee's role is the same as the Main Committee except that is deals primarily with householder applications.
