I was elected to the Council on 7th May 1987 and was Mayor of Darlington in the Municipal Year 2004/05.

I also serve on the Governing Bodies of Firthmoor Primary School and Heathfield Nursery School.

I continue with my role as an active Ward Councillor for the Eastbourne Ward, with my fellow Ward Councillors and also live in the Ward.
