About This Councillor

I was elected to the Council on 8th May 1995 and am appointed to the General Licensing/Licensing Act 2003 Committee.  I am also a member of the Middleton St. George Partnership and a Foundation Governor of St. George's CE Aided Primary School.

Annual Report

During the past 12 months I have continued to attend and make regular, and hopefully valuable, contributions at all meetings I attend as a Darlington Borough Councillor.

In my role as a Licensing Committee Member,  my knowledge of the Licensing Act has improved considerably, particularly with an intensive training programme. Since the implementation of the Licensing Act I have been heavily involved in the work of the Licensing Sub-Committees in determining applications for licensing premises and have chaired some of these Committee meetings.

I have also attended training and development events to gain a better understanding of the work of the Council. All Councillors sign to attend a minimum of five training events each year.  Our attendances at training events are monitored by the Council's Standards Committee. I am also committed to intensive training early in 2006 on Licensing and the Gambling Act.

I continue with my role as an active Ward Councillor for the Middleton St. George Ward of Darlington, undertaking regular ward surgeries and dealing with complaints
