Creches
Creche providers offer occasional childcare for children to specifically allow adults to work, train or pursue leisure activities. They may take children of any age.
The Early Years and Childcare Team can support all Creche providers to offer a secure and safe environment for children so that parents are confident that their children are well cared after. Creche facilities which are registered with Ofsted are required to meet the Early Years Foundation Stage welfare requirements. all staff must hold a current enhanced CRB check and there should be a minimum of two adults on duty. a system for registering all children attending, which includes emergency contact details, should be in place.
Ratios of staff to children are :
1 to 3 children under 2 years
1 to 4 children aged 2 years
1 to 8 children 3 years to 7 years
Policies and procedures including a Safeguarding Children policy should be available for parents/carers to read.
