Are you interested in becoming a Childminder?
• A childminder is registered to look after children, to whom they are not related, on domestic premises for reward and for a total of more than two hours per day
• Childminders are registered and inspected by OFSTED
• All childminders must have an up to date CRB check, first aid certificate and meet the requirements of the Early Years Foundation Stage welfare requirements - http://www.ofsted.gov.uk/ [external website]
• Childminders are self - employed
• This type of care offers a personalised and flexible service for service for families and often pick up from local schools and nurseries
The support childminder scheme links new childminders, both those who are newly registered and those going through the registration process, to an experienced Childminder who can give them support and information as well as introducing them to the local childminding community.
This support is available for up to one year after registration, by which point the ‘new’ childminder will hopefully have built up their own support network.
