What is a childminder?

 A registered childminder:

  • looks after one or more children under the age of 8 for more than a total of 2 hours a day on domestic premises (normally a childminder's own home for reward)
  • is registered & inspected by OFSTED - demonstrating the quality & standards of their care;
  • is self employed, runs their own business & provides a service to the families whose children they care for;
  • this type of care offers a personalised & flexible service for families.
