Darlington Early Years Service values the contribution Darlington Childminders make in meeting the needs of local families.
Childminding is a unique form of childcare which has the flexibility to meet the individual needs of the families they care for.
As a result we have introduced a Support Childminding scheme with the aim of encouraging sustainability within Childminding.
Many potential Childminders do not complete their registration process or leave within the first year of Childminding. This is often due to a feeling of isolation and a lack of support.
The Support Childminding scheme links newly registered Childminders, and in some cases those who are going through the registration process, with an experienced Childminder who will provide them with support and information and introduce them to the local Childminding community.
New Childminder‘s who receive this form of support have a greater chance of being successful in their chosen career.
This support will be available for up to one year after registration, by which point the ‘new’ Childminder will have built up their own support network and no longer require the additional support.
