If a school reaches its published admission number for the 2009/10 intake for either Reception year or Yr7, parent/carers can ask the Admission Authority to add their child's name to a waiting list.
Your child's position on a waiting list(s) will be determined by the oversubscription criteria for the relevant admission authority. If you want your child's name to be added to a waiting list for any school then you must complete the 'options' form which is attached to the refusal/offer letter issued in March 2009.
The Local Authority holds waiting lists only for schools within Darlington Borough and names can be added to a waiting list at any time. When pupil numbers fall below the published admission number, children will be admitted from the waiting list according to the priorities of the relevant criteria published in the primary and secondary 2009/10 brochures, but without reference to preferences expressed in the initial round of offers. The Authority does not take into account the length of time on the waiting list.
Vacancies often arise at short notice and those on the waiting list should be prepared to take up a place as soon as it occurs. Places will not be held for later consideration. The Authority will maintain waiting lists for Reception/YR7 year pupils only until September 2009 (i.e. the start of the academic year of admission). Thereafter, normal transfer/casual admission arrangements will operate.
Waiting lists for schools for which Darlington Borough Council is the admissions authority will not be held after September of the year of entry.
