Aim of the service:
The School Counselling services aim is to contribute to the early identification of emotional/psychological difficulties and potential barriers to learning, to provide readily accessible counselling and other therapies for young people, without the need for long waiting periods, and to provide a service which is seen as non-stigmatising.
The target groups for counselling at school are those young people of secondary school age who are at risk of developing mental health problems. This includes young people with: anxiety disorders, depression, eating disorders, and self-harming behaviours.
