For supporting and monitoring the education of our looked after children in conjunction with Childrens Services. Much of the focus of the work is with Schools, the Adoption Team, Fostering Team and Children's Homes Managers.
Purpose
- To work strategically with maintained schools to ensure systems are developed which support looked after children.
- To offer advice to schools
- To develop an authority wide response to looked after children.
- To lead strategic development regarding looked after children with a range of partner agencies.
How do we do this?
- We liaise with the appropriate staff in schools and other agencies.
- Collect and monitor attainment, exclusion and attendance data.
- Coordinate the preparation of Personal Education Plans.
- Work with schools to offer advice for young people.
- Offer a range of professional development for teachers, foster carers and social workers.
