Inclusive Opportunities

What is the Inclusive Opportunities Fund?
The inclusive opportunities fund is a multi-agency project financed by Darlington Borough Council and Darlington Primary Care Trust. The fund is looked after by a panel, which has representatives from each of the funding providers and aims to support disabled children (normally resident in the Borough of Darlington and under 18 years of age), to access mainstream leisure activities. This could include play schemes, sports activities, youth clubs, etc.
Please note that the fund accepts applications for funding for the additional support required, and not for the cost of the activity itself.

What will the fund help with?
The fund provides support to individual disabled children to access mainstream leisure activities. The fund could be used:
- To purchase specialist or adapted equipment
- For staff or volunteer training to support a child.
- The provision of a support worker (short-term).
The panel always welcome new ideas and ways of assisting and supporting disabled children to access the same play, leisure and social opportunities as their non-disabled peers. The panel considers all requests on an individual basis.
To apply to the fund a simple application form needs to be completed by parents, professionals or providers, on behalf of a disabled child. An application form is included in the information pack, (which you can get by contacting the fund administrator) or by clicking on the download links below.
