Friends of the Park
Several friends groups are now in place including: Friends of South Park, Friends of North Lodge Park, Friends of Eastbourne Park, Friends of Green Park, Friends of North Park, Friends of Brinkburn Dene, Friends of Stanhope Green and Friends of West Park [external link].
The Friends of the Parks groups are carrying out various tasks in their local areas as well as working with Council Officers to ensure that the voice of the community is heard at the centre of the decision making process. They are involved in all sorts of practical tasks around the park, such as gardening clubs, organising events and educational campaigns such as biodiversity, and how we can make a difference to improve our local green space or park.
For any public park to be successful and representative of the community in which it serves, it is important that the local community are involved in its running.
