The Estates and Property Service
The council's estates and property service is predominantly an internal service that manages the property portfolio and deals with the sale and acquisition of land and premises.
Asset Management
The Estates and Property Section is part of the Resources Group and is mostly based at the Town Hall, Darlington. Its main purpose is to develop the provision of strategic advice to the council on the management and use of the council's assets, as well as to provide a professional valuation and management service. It takes a pro-active approach and seeks to identify opportunities for maximising the potential of assets and, where surplus to requirements, maximising their value to the council.
Energy Management
The Estates and Property Section fulfils an energy management function for the authority and are proactively engaged in reducing the carbon footprint of the authorities premises. In addition to representing the authority at the regional power purchasing group we order new installations and analyse data for the majority of our premises, working closely with schools and occupational managers.
