Woodburn Nursery - What's Happening
In Partnership with Nubeck Nursery a garden has now been developed within the nursery grounds ready to be used to trial and test the following:
- New Plant Varieties and colours
- Innovative planting designs requested by customers
- Plants grown in peat free compost
In addition the garden will be used for training and hopefully as a study area for use by schools.

Currently one of the nurseries targets is to locate a suitable peat reduced compost in which to grow our plant requirements that maintains both the plant quality and uniformity . A trial was carried out using a selection of summer bedding using a peat reduced compost, the compost trialled is peat reduced by 10% using shredded bark as a substitute for peat. The results were very positive and did produce a high quality plant although lacked in uniformity.
