If you have furniture in your house which you need to get rid of, there are two options available to you. If it is of good quality, you can give it to one of two recycling schemes in the Darlington area who will pick it up from you for free. If it is of poor quality, we operate a bulky household items collection.
F.R.A.D.E – Furniture Reclamation and Delivery Enterprise
F.R.A.D.E is a registered charity which provides people on a low income with affordable pre-owned furniture. It relies on furniture donations to be able to provide this service.
The charity offers a free collection service to people who wish to dispose of their furniture who would otherwise just take it to the Household Waste Recycling Centre or dispose of it in environmentally damaging ways. These donations are then displayed in the F.R.A.D.E warehouses for other people to purchase inexpensively and use in their homes.

Background information about F.R.A.D.E
F.R.A.D.E was initially established in Stockton-on-Tees, and in May 2005, expanded by opening premises in Darlington.
In 2005 the charity collected 7839 items of furniture, which were passed onto 1523 other households.

Kings Church Furniture Recycling Scheme
Kings Church Darlington run a non-profit furniture recycling scheme. Anyone that lives in the borough of Darlington and is on income based benefits can purchase furniture, with prices ranging from 75p to £7. Furniture can be taken straight away or the organisation can deliver it for you for free.
To donate furniture, please call 01325 469884. Kings Church can pick it up for you, or you can drop it off at the warehouse. Unfortunately Kings Church cannot accept electrical items.
