Street Cleansing Service

A comprehensive Street Cleansing service is operated across the Borough.  Cleansing is carried out either by mechanical or manual means using a variety of purpose-built equipment. 

The service comprises of:

• sweeping
• litter picking
• fly tipping removal
• gully flushing
• litter bin and dog bin emptying
• fly posting and graffiti removal

Seasonal services include:

• leaf clearance
• blossom fall removal
• weed control
• winter maintenance.

Street Care

A dedicated team carry out minor works including:

• installing litter bins
• dog bins
• removing fly posting
• graffiti
• cleaning pavement surfaces
• repairing fences
• installing benches
• painting of street furniture

Street Scene Garden Tidy Service

Street Scene provides a garden tidy service, for those who are either elderly or disabled. The lists of names and addresses are supplied by the Housing Department. The service includes cutting of grass (six times a year) and cutting of hedges (March and August) to avoid bird nesting season.

Street Scene also clears unoccupied council houses on demand as supplied by the Housing Department. These clearances can vary from removing one item (such as a fridge) to a complete house, shed and garden clearance that could take several days.

We also complete clearances on behalf of Environmental Health such as Works In Default where the client receives the bill for the works required to rectify the problem.
