We are the only highway authority in England to have received funding as both a Sustainable and a Cycling Demonstration Town and the only authority in the North East to receive excellent in the assessment of our delivery of the first Local Transport Plan.
As a senior member of the transport policy team, you will play a full role in ensuring we continue to provide high quality, sustainable transport solutions for local people. You will help us deliver the Second Local Transport Plan, as the client for transport investment, overseeing both the overall programme and specific schemes. The role also involves monitoring actions and the administration of supported bus service contracts and concessionary fare schemes.
With good communication, interpersonal and general IT skills, you must be able to manage a diverse workload.
Whilst experience in the public transport sector is desirable, we welcome applications from all people with the relevant skills and experience.

The Intensive Supervision and Surveillance Programme (ISSP) is an innovative scheme aimed at prolific young offenders and those who have committed serious offences. The programme has developed creative approaches to working with the most persistent young offenders, their families and the community to reduce offending and increase opportunities for them.
The post holder will have responsibility for monitoring clients subject to ISSP and also for direct work with young people aged 10 - 18 years and with victims and communities. Additionally, they will be responsible for the delivery of victim focused and community based reparative activities for young offenders.
The successful candidate will have at least 3 years experience working with young people and families in a relevant setting. A flexible approach to working arrangements is also essential as the post includes some evening and weekend working.

Aiming High for Disabled Children was launched by the Government in May 2007. The 3 year initiative included the investment of £340million to enable Local Authorities and their partners to match the aims and aspirations of disabled children and their families.
The first phase of the initiative is now underway with the development of Short Break Services. Darlington is looking to recruit a dynamic self motivator with high drive for achievement and who can adapt to a fast changing environment. The successful candidate will be part of a small but dedicated group of parents and professionals who are committed to increasing and sustaining the life chances of disabled children. The successful candidate will have at least three years relevant change management experience including working with partners.
