About MyDarlington+
MyDarlington+ is a free service that enables you to create your own unique mini version of the Darlington Borough Council website. You can;
- Build up a list of links to pages that are of interest to you, and be notified whenever they are updated.
- Sign up to weekly email alerts about events happening in the local area that are of interest to you.
- Access your Council Tax and Housing Rents information.
- Read the Council’s Twitter feed.
- Find out about your local councillor.

Functions
You can use MyDarlington+ by entering your postcode on the far-left hand side of the MyDarlington+ page or on the Darlington Borough Council homepage.
If you sign up to a free account, you can experience additional functionality such as:
- viewing your Council Tax and Housing Rents online
- bookmarking your favourite pages and being alerted when they are updated
- having your favourite events emailed straight to your inbox
Setting up your account
Signing up for a MyDarlington+ account is free and easy!
Click on the link at the top-right of the page which says Login to get more features!
You will then see two pink boxes, one for logging in to an existing account and one for signing up. Under Sign Up enter a user name and your full name.
The user name must be unique, you will be notified if it is already in use.
Your full name is used to welcome you to MyDarlington+ when you log in, and also when you subscribe to additional things such as viewing your council tax online.
Next, enter a password. Passwords must contain:
- A minimum of five letters
- A minimum of one number
- A capital letter (or a special character such as @ ! or ?)
You will be told how strong your password is, and also if your password cannot be used.
Your password will be known only by you. Keep it safe and don't tell it to anyone. The Council will never ask you for your password.
Next enter your email address. You will need to provide a valid email address (once you have registered you will be sent an email in order to validate your account).
You cannot use the same email address for more than one account - however you can change the email address affiliated to an account by logging in, selecting edit your profile and changing it from there.
Finally you will be able to enter a postcode. This is optional but if you provide it, you can make it so that when you log in, certain information such as your ward details and recycling.refuse days will be centered around your postcode.
Click the register button. You will then see a confirmation screen saying you have signed up to MyDarlington+ and you will receive an email. Click on the link in the email to activate your account
Logging in
Once you have created your account and verified it, you can log into your account by clicking on Login to get more features! Enter your user name and password and click Log In
If you forget your password, click the forgotten your password? link. If you enter your email address then you will be emailed a new password.
You can change your new password to something more memorable by clicking on edit your profile on the far-right hand side of the page
You can set it so that your account details are remembered every time you visit our website. To do this check the stay logged in? button on the login screen.
If you are on a public computer or don't want people to access your account once you are finished, click Logout when you are done.
