03/10/03 - Darlington Borough Council and Durham Constabulary have launched the UK's first combined crime prevention and community safety service, the Community Safety Partnership.The Community Safety Partnership brings together, under one roof, community justice services provided by Durham Constabulary and Darlington Borough Council. Community justice services include crime prevention and services dealing with crime and offenders. The new service will provide local people with a central place to go to for support, guidance and advice on crime, crime prevention and community safety issues.The launch of the Community Safety Partnership is the result of three years of work between Darlington Police and the Council to combine services for the benefit of the community and brings together over one hundred and twenty staff.Based at Darlington Central House Annexe on Gladstone Street, the new Community Service Partnership service includes: Uniformed WardensPolice Community Safety Officers (PCSOs)Police Beat TeamsPolice Anti Social Behaviour Team (ASB)Police School Liaison OfficerPolice Crime Prevention OfficerPolice Ethnic Minority and Vulnerable Groups Liaison OfficerPolice Community Safety UnitDrug And Alcohol Team (DAAT)Joint Commissioning ManagerUnder 19s Substance Misuse Nurse and support staffEarly Interventions Team (Including Parenting Plus Mentoring for Life & Assertive Outreach)Youth Offending Service (YOS)Intensive Supervision & Surveillance Programme (ISSP)Stonham HousingCommunity Cohesion Youth workersEducation Other Than At School (EOTAS)Black Ethnic Minority (BME) Community Safety Advisor for Young PeopleThe above teams can be contacted on one number - 01325 346203.
