02/10/03 - Work costing £50,000 to renew all of the footpaths in the Denes is set to start this week. The Council has already carried out work to put in new park benches and dog and litter bins.
The Denes is the latest park to benefit from the Council’s £180,000 improvements programme to upgrade and improve security in parks and cemeteries across the town.
The programme of work on footpaths included re-laying paths at North Park, North Cemetery, Eastbourne Park and Stanhope Park. Maintenance work has also been carried out to improve the condition of footpaths in Sugar Hill Park and Green Park. New benches have also been installed in the parks and cemeteries as well as new bins for litter and dog waste.
A £100,000 scheme to introduce five, closed circuit television (CCTV) cameras in certain parks and cemeteries to help reduce vandalism and to improve safety is also underway.
