RISE AND SHINE TO BIRDSONG

30/04/04 - Darlington Council's Countryside Officers are encouraging Darlington residents to rise and shine early on Sunday 2nd May to take part in International Dawn Chorus Day.

The team has organised an early morning walk around Low Coniscliffe with local expert, Cliff Evans from Darlington Wildlife Group, to listen to the dawn chorus.  Meeting at 5am in the lay-by just west of the Baydale Beck Pub on the A67 Darlington - Barnard Castle road, everyone is invited to join in a two mile walk along part of the Teesdale way, listening to the varied bird song, before enjoying a hearty breakfast at Salutation Hall, Salutation Road in Darlington.

The walk in Darlington is just one of a number of events that will be taking place across the country to celebrate International Dawn Chorus Day.  For further information about other events see the Wildsong website: www.wildsong.co.uk/dawnchorus.html

The walk and breakfast will cost £2 per adult and £1 for children and other concessionary groups.  No pre-booking is necessary.  Please bring binoculars if you have them.
