Farmer Fined For Advertising

18/05/06 - A FARMER who illegally advertised a wedding exhibition in a field beside the A1 has been fined.

Today (thurs) at Bishop Auckland magistrates court, Robert Darling of Burtree House Farm, Darlington pleaded guilty by post to breaching advertising regulations.

The charges were brought after a large advert for a wedding fair was seen in one of Mr Darling’s fields in February this year.

The advert could be seen by drivers on the southbound A1M between junctions 59 and 58.

The court heard Mr Darling, who did not have permission from the Council for the advert, had been warned to remove it before the charges were brought.

Mr Darling was fined £240 and ordered to pay costs of £75.
