Long-Serving Councillors Honoured

07/12/06 - FIVE parish councillors, with a combined service of more than 125 years, will be honoured at a special ceremony next week.

The councillors, who have all completed 25 or more years of service, were nominated by their councils for their dedication to the community.

The Mayor of Darlington, Eleanor Lister, will present the councillors with an award marking their achievement at a reception in the Town Hall on Tuesday December 12.

The long service awards will be presented to Peter Foster and Alan Gibson from Hurworth Parish Council, Frank Richardson from Low Dinsdale Parish Council, Eric Thompson from Heighington Parish and Beatrice Cuthbertson from Sadberge Parish Council.

Coun Lister said: “The work of parish councillors is vitally important to residents and it is a great achievement for these councillors to have given so much of their lives to serving their local communities.”
