MYP Asks Young People To Give Their Views On-Line

13/11/06 - DARLINGTON Member of Youth Parliament (MYP) Ashleigh Trevarrow has launched a blog to let young people find out about her work and have a say on youth services in the Borough.

The blog is the latest edition to Darlington Council’s youth website e-Vibe, which was launched in August.

Ashleigh will update her blog regularly with information about what she is doing for young people in the town as well as her involvement in regional and national events.

She will be commenting on issues relevant to young people and asking people who log on to e-mail their views on everything from youth activities and transport to education and health.

Her deputy Christian Smith will also use the blog to talk about his work supporting Ashleigh.

Chris McEwan. Darlington Cabinet Member for Children’s Services, said: “E-Vibe has already proved popular with young people in the town and Ashleigh’s blog will give them a new way to communicate with her and the Council.

“We want to hear young people’s views on a wide-range of subjects and are already acting to provide new activities that have been suggested by young people around the town.”

As well as e-mailing comments to the blog, young people will be able to use the TextVibe service to have their say.

Registered members to the Youth Service’s mobile phone scheme will be able to text in their views on any of the subjects Ashleigh talks about.

A selection of all comments to the blog will be published on the e-Vibe site.
