Youngsters' Signs Boosting Road Safety

15/03/07 - PUPILS at a village school have shown their creative side to highlight the importance of road safety.

The children at St George’s Primary School, in Middleton St George, came up with a series of designs for new road signs to illustrate a local 20mph speed limit.

Pupils Sam Giblin and Andrew Morrison produced the winning designs after representatives of Darlington Council’s Road Safety Team visited the school to give a special presentation.

The signs have been erected outside the school, where the new limit is in force to curb motorists’ speed.

Head teacher Janine Gleeson said: “The children worked very hard coming up with their signs and we are delighted to see Sam and Andrew’s designs getting the road safety message across.”
