The club, for players aged 16 and over, meets at the Dolphin Centre on Saturday evenings from 5pm to 7pm.
The sessions, which cost £3, cater for players of all abilities, from beginner to advanced.
Coaching will be given by James Hedge, from the Tees Valley Mohawks, the region’s biggest team, who have recently achieved promotion into National Division 1.
It is hoped that the sessions, organised by the Council's Sports Development Team, will lead to Darlington being able to field a team in the Teesside basketball league, starting this September.
