Carers Week 2008

02/06/08 - CARERS in Darlington are invited to attend a picnic in South Park as part of National Carers’ Week.

National Carers’ Week takes place from June 9 to 15 to celebrate the work of six million carers nationwide who look after loved ones.
The theme this year is ‘carers can’t afford to be ill’, aimed at highlighting the importance of carers’ health and well-being.
There are a number of events happening in Darlington for carers:
• Thursday June 5 - Carers Together – a free hand massage session 1.30pm to 3pm at Bondgate Methodist Church
• Monday June 9 - Relaxation group, 1.30pm to 3.30pm at The Lounge, Bondgate Methodist Church
• Thursday June 12 – Picnic in the Park – South Park, meet at the Clock Tower at noon. Bring a blanket – food and refreshments will be provided
• Friday June 13 – Cookery demonstration from 2pm to 4pm at Age Concern, Bradbury House, Beaumont Street. Sponsored by Wiltshire Farm Foods
• Sunday June 15 – Carers Church Service at 10.45am at the United Reformed Churcch, Northgate
• Thursday June 19 – Mental Health Carers Coffee Afternoon, 1.30pm to 3pm, Bondgate Methodist Church.
