Darlington teacher commended

30/06/08 - A DARLINGTON primary school teacher received a commendation from judges in the regional finals of the BT Teacher of the Year Awards.

Ken Roberts, aged 52, who works at North Road Primary School in Darlington was nominated for the award by Ellen Deane, mother of Kimberley, a former North Road Primary School pupil.
Mr Roberts who has been a teacher for 15 years, and has worked at North Road Primary for 9 years, is an advanced skills teacher in the Borough, specialising in foreign languages.
He also teaches Year 2 infants at North Road, as well as foreign languages to Years 1 to 5.
David Ackroyd Head teacher at North Road Primary endorsed Mrs Deane’s nomination. He said: “Ken is an excellent teacher, this commendation is recognition of that. It’s a wonderful achievement and well deserved.”
Mr Roberts received his commendation at an awards ceremony at the Sage in Gateshead.
