The walk, organised by the Council’s Countryside Team, takes place on Sunday June 22 at 3pm and will explore countryside paths around the area.
The three-mile walk, which starts at the Broken Scar picnic area on Coniscliffe Road, is not suitable for pushchairs or wheelchairs.
The walk is free and walkers should bring a picnic.
It is hoped people who take part on Sunday will also sign up for Darlington’s first Family Walk on Sunday July 20.
The six-mile countryside walk is open to the whole family and there is also a 2.5mile wheel-friendly route.
Walkers are invited to get sponsored to raise money for the Great North East Air Ambulance.
The entry fee, which includes a T-shirt, is £6 for adults, £3 for under-16s and £15 for a family of four.
To get an entry form call (01325) 388404.
Andy Scott, Darlington Council’s Cabinet Member for Health and Leisure, said: “The walk on Sunday will be a good warm-up for anyone wanting to take part in the Family Walk in July.
“Both events are a good opportunity for people to get out and about and enjoy the countryside on our doorstep.”
